Since I have been focused on the topic of flowers I found pictures of some of the flowers that are being considered or that I would like to try to incorporate.
For the orange rose I like the Milva Rose since its more of a mango color, even though on the left it looks a bit like a coral color.

For the lightest color in the bouqet I like the Versilia Rose.

For different texture and size spray roses will be included.

Not sure what color ranunculus we will have probably pinks or creams.

Lastly if we can include them I would love to since garden roses look very similar to peonies.

Roses, Daisies and Dahlias Oh My!

I am in complete floral mode considering I went to all of my florist meetings this week. At the beginning of the week I had ideas but wasn't 100% sure what I wanted. Well after a week's worth of meeting with florists, looking at pictures and lots of talking about flowers I have finally been able to pin down what I like and don't like. I have learned that I like the round, lush, full look of hand tied bouquets. Here is the inspiration picture I showed all of the florists:
I won't be having the peonies since they will be out of season or the sweat pea since it's very finicky and wilts easily. I will be having different sizes/types of roses (for the texture), ranunculus, and maybe garden roses to mimick the peonies if they fit into the budget. The colors will be similar with the lightest color a peachy cream, including various shades of pink and then some oranges(think more of a mango color not pumpkin orange) to incorporate the color scheme of the wedding. I'm just waiting on proposals from all the florists so I can't wait to see what they send me!

AHHH Peonies

I love Love LOVE peonies. If I could I would only have peonies at the wedding (well maybe not just peonies but I would have ALOT of them) but unfortuneatly they are out of season in July and pricey even when in season so out of season price is crazy. Based on this we won't be able to have them, boo:( But since I have been having many floral meetings this week I still wanted to post some peony pictures just 'cause I love them so much.

Yikes!

I prefer string instruments for the ceremony music but Andy would prefer a piano. So I went to the church today to talk to the organist to find out what she is capable of and willing to do. Well she handed me a list of six songs as her repetoire, yikes! Also all music has to be approved through her and she seems very strict about making sure all song choices are very traditional. Needless to say we are going to keep looking. We definitely want classical music however the Bridal March just isn't my thing. I never thought that I would be so particular about the ceremony music or musicians but I'm finding out that I am not nearly as traditional as I thought I was.

While I was at the church I was able to snap a quick picture of the sanctuary. The picture isn't perfect but you get the idea and are able to see some of the stained glass windows the are all along the side walls from the front to the back of the church.

Purple and Orange

One of the first questions most brides get asked is: "What are your colors?" This was one thing I had given some thought to but never spent too much energy worrying about. I always thought I wanted to include my favorite color, purple, but just wasn't sure how it would work out. Then I ran across this picture and thought orange and purple was a really interesting color combination. The two colors together is something I would have never considered on my own but I really like how they popped against each other.

So when people asked me that famous first question I would tell them I was considering purple and orange. Some people embraced the idea however I have received more horrified looks than I care to count. Everyone's reactions had me justifying my thinking to other people, even strangers. All of this made me realize this is our wedding, I like it, and that's all that matters. Yes it's different, yes it's unique but that's what draws me to these colors. The fact that I haven't seen a million other purple and orange weddings is very appealing and one way we are personalizing our wedding. The colors are vibrant and I am looking forward to finding tasteful ways to incorporate them. Here are some other pictures I have found that have inspired my purple and orange colors:

V is for Vows

During the whole wedding planning process I have been reading many blogs that have been helpful in giving me different ideas and resources. So I thought why not contribute to the world of blogging that I have found so helpful. The only problem was finding a name that wasn't shall we say cheesalicious or boring that still encompassed a bit of me. Trying to help me with a name my sister was reflecting on how back in middle school during those getting to know you ice breaker games we all had to introduce ourselves with a word that described us using the first letter of our first name. I always hated those games because what was I supposed to do with Vanessa? At 13 my vocabulary wasn't necessarily sophisticated enough to think of much and the only V word I could come up with was vivacious. What else was I going to say: vixen, vapid, voluptuous, vulgar, vigorous . . . yeah right! So with my best forced smile I said, "Hi I'm Vanessa and I'm vivacious." Well to my dismay everyone thought it was cute and soon I became known as Vivacious V and later thankfully shortened to just V. As we were talking about my past nickname we realized there is a very important wedding word that starts with V . . . vows and so V is for Vows was born. I hope those of you reading who actually know us enjoy getting to be part of our journey to the aisle and those of you who don't gather some ideas or at least enjoy a laugh at how silly brides can be.
